Help me to study now
Many young people feel overwhelmed by study …They don’t know where to begin …And they have never been shown how to learn …
That is why Help Me Study Now was created. It is an online programme, created by The Super Generation and targeted at second level students, which shows them how to learn.
Help Me Study Now introduces students to a study system that works. The study system has three components:
- Plan It
- Do It
- Review It
Do it – the methodology used is called POKER, which stands for:
- Purpose
- Overview
- Keywords
- Etch and Sketch
- Re-Test.
Research has shown that people that use mindmaps tend to outperform those that use linear note-taking approaches and an added bonus is that they don’t have to spend as long studying.
Help Me Study Now also introduces people to memory techniques which can reduce significantly the amount of time young people have to spend remembering information. The memory techniques train the brain to remember information.
Review – The importance of brief and frequent review is highlighted to get information into long-term memory. The programme uses video, story, exercise and examples to teach and consolidate the systems taught. After taking this programme, young people have a better understanding of how they learn.
Armed with this understanding they will study more effectively and approach study with confidence, while being focused and examination orientated. These good study habits increase productivity, increase confidence and result in better grades in exams.
