Skooler’s Programme 2 Ball handling Character Development Programme

Age Senior Infants – 4th Class Cost €64 per student per 8 week term

The Character Development Programme was adapted from an Elementary schools programme delivered in the US. The focus of the programme is to teach 50 plus different basketball ball handling skills. The core of the programme is to instil character amongst the players and to enable them to become better ball handlers but more importantly student, individuals, team mates and class mates.

Each player learns how to be a responsible individual as they learn through basketball about respect, responsibility, encouragement, courage, kindness, self-discipline and perseverance.

It is a hugely successful programme and brings out the best in students. The aim is that they will have fun, learn to be better basketball players and be able to contribute to society in a more productive way. The programme has been carefully designed to carry out specific character traits amongst your students while being able to perform a 1 minute routine with each other.

At the end of the 8 week the Coach will award 7 of the students with a t shirt which they feel the student has earned throughout the programme. Most Respectful, Most Responsible, Most Courageous etc. They will work with the staff team to see if the students have transferred this into the classroom. It is a great way to ensure we get the most out of the programme.
