Kippure Adventure & Education Centre
Kippure Estate is an estate of 240 acres in northwest Co. Wicklow, near Manor Kilbride village, offering a venue of great beauty and tranquillity. It is the perfect place for field trips, adventure, nature awareness, ecology and geographical investigations.
It is ideal for school groups who wish to carry out field studies as part of the school curriculum, primary and secondary, Junior and Leaving Certificate, or for those in search of fun and adventure. Our experienced staff provide the highest standard of tuition and endeavour to make the groups’ visit a memorable and high-quality experience.
We have all the equipment necessary to carry out the various field studies such as the River Study for the Leaving Certificate Geography, or the Ecology module of the Biology course where we also carry out studies in our mixed oak woodland. These studies are popular not only for examination classes but for all ages through primary and post-primary school. They can be combined with a half day of adventure to give the students not only the necessary mental stimulus they need but physical education as well.
Adventure
To ensure the highest level of safety our instructor to student ratio is 1:15 for field studies and 1:10 for adventure activities. Take a beautiful hike to the top of Seefin Mountain behind us to visit a 5000 year old megalithic tomb, and a great view over Dublin, before returning to base for lunch, and then a visit to the woods. This is where the students learn to build shelters from branches and debris, orienteer to find food that has been stashed for them, and bring it back to cook over a camp fire that they will build. It’s basic survival skills and a really good learning and fun time in the woods.
We can cater for large groups quite comfortably so give us a call to discuss your requirements.
This one-day programme operates within school hours; all activities are onsite and provide you with a hassle-free day.
Kippure Estate is easily accessible from the M50, N11 and N81 and is located only 45 minutes from Dublin’s city centre. Schools and Colleges have visited us from the four provinces, and have come back year after year.
