Rediscovery Centre School Tours




The Rediscovery Centre is a creative and innovative space connecting people, ideas and resources. Located in the unique Boiler House in Ballymun, we bring together the skills and expertise of artists, scientists, designers and craftsmen working for sustainability through resource efficiency and reuse.

Our Education Programmes include a range of engaging and interactive workshops based on hands-on enquiry and experiential learning. Topics range from environmental subjects such as waste, energy, global citizenship and biodiversity to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Each workshop features a presentation, a range of activities and games and a feedback session to encourage the students to reflect on what they have learned throughout the workshop.

Workshops can be delivered in our education centre at the Boiler House Ballymun, or as outreach workshops directly in your school.

Both our Primary Education programme and Secondary Education programme are ideal for schools participating in the Green Schools programme as well as great support for classes undertaking project for various awards such as the BT Young Scientist Award, the Young Environmentalist Award or the SEAI One Good Idea.

The Rediscovery Centre is an accredited Discover Centre under the Discover Primary Science and Maths programme (www.primary-science.ie). All our educators are highly experienced in the delivery of education workshops, Garda vetted and trained in child protection.

Primary Level


Our Primary level programme includes 90 mins workshops, 3 hour workshop and full day workshops on the following topics: waste, biodiversity, energy, water, sustainable transport, global citizenship, science investigations, forces, space, engineering and math detectives.

The content of each workshop links to the primary school curriculum through a range of subjects including Science, Maths, SPHE, Visual Art and Geography. Students are encouraged to explore ideas on the workshop topics through discussion and a range of hands-on activities.

Second Level


The Rediscovery Centre second level education workshops are include 90 mins workshops and 3 hour workshops on the following topics: Waste management, Sustainable Design, Energy Electricity and Circuits and CSI Maths.

The workshops are suitable for 1st Year to Transition Years students.

The content of the workshops links to the second level school curriculum through a range of subjects including Science, Geography, CSPE, ESS and Art, Craft & Design. Each workshop aims at developing students’ knowledge on the topic, as well as equipping them with critical thinking and practical skills. In a feedback session students can share what they have learned throughout the workshop.

School Tours


The Rediscovery Centre offers school tours for primary schools that are fun, educational and include hands-on activities, games, experiments and arts and crafts to stimulate children curiosity and interest in our natural environment.

Our programme of school tours includes option for 90min workshops and 3 ½ hour workshops, and are tailored to your group’s requirements. Topics include: biodiversity, energy, water, waste, science and space.
