Science, Language & Technology Camps 2011

We've loosely grouped camps in the following areas under the term Academic. - Languages, Science, Computers & Technology, Chess, The camps may include other activities, e.g. Games/Activities through Irish, however the main focus of the camp is to learn/experience the language or specific activity e.g. science etc.

	Computer Game Design Course – Don’t Just Play Games, Make Them! Create your own game in this fun, stimulating game camp for kids. 	The Digital Media Summer Camp is specifically aimed for teenagers (ideal ages 12-16), The camp offers young adults an introduction to all aspects of digital media including Digital Video & Film Making, Photography, Animation and building Websites The course aims to provide participants with a great foundation in many aspects of digital media which may influence future career choices or add a supplementary skill. Technology Meets the Arts	Technology Meets the Arts for children ages 9 - 15. A busy, fun-filled week combining story writing, art, animation, movie-making, and team-building. This dynamic workshop allows children to make their own creative choices. Run by teachers with Masters in Art Therapy and Technology and Learning. Languages
ISLA Spanish camp	ISLA Spanish camp provides Spanish courses for students aged 8-18 yrs old. Courses include: Junior (8-11 yrs), Pre- Junior and Pre- Leaving Certificate (1st - 5th yrs.) All courses are taught by native Spanish teachers. Activities: Flamenco, Salsa, Zumba, Spanish cookery, Karaoke, Sport and much more. Students are integrated with native Spanish students of the same age during afternoon activities. Life Skills
Searsol Summer Typing Camp	The TTRS summer typing course available for students who want to learn how to touch type and improve their spelling. This unique computer-based course is called Touch-Type, Read and Spell (TTRS). It aims to improve reading, spelling and touch-typing skills and to build confidence and self-esteem. An ideal primer course for children starting secondary school for the first time in September 2011. 	A summer camp for students with Dyslexia/Dyspraxia, specific learning difficulties with reading, writing or spelling. Parents can also attend for Free on day 1. Each students will have their own computer. The course will introduce Assistive Technology/Software Programmes to assist and support students to progress through school and on to college. Irish Sign Language	A Summer Project with Difference from Sharing the Journey! Our Summer Project offers all children aged 5 – 15 years the opportunity to learn Irish Sign language while enjoying high quality workshops in drama, dance, African drumming, tag rugby, yoga and creative writing. Based in Drumcondra, Dublin the Project will run Monday to Friday 10.30am – 4pm, 8th – 12th and 15th – 19TH August. Cost €50 per week, reductions for siblings and groups. Knockadoon Ecology Camp	Residential camp on east cork shore. Experience the fun of sea-shore fieldwork in ecology with experienced teachers and Biologists. Do all the Junior Cert Science and Leaving Cert Biology fieldwork activities and learn the theory and applications. First, Second, Third, Fourth and Fifth years should apply.
