NEW EDUCATIONAL LANGUAGE PROGRAMME
‘Simply Signing’ a DYNAMIC business has just launched a new Irish Sign Language Programme, an education programme aimed at Schools and Crèches.
Simply Signing are Ireland’s leading signing company, having developed a range of children’s books and techniques to help teach youngsters, educators and carers. And their recently launched school and crèche programme offers fun and excitement to all children, delivered by trained presenters.
‘Our mission is to promote the education of Irish Sign Language to all children, to provide a colourful access through our publications, devoted to early intervention and education work,’ Director Lorna McCormack.
Sign Language across the world and in Ireland is becoming an integral part of preschool and primary school curriculum. ‘Irish Sign Language can be an incredible bridge between receptive language and verbal language it is also a wonderful tool for children learning English as a second language.
The programme introduce children to sign language and deaf and hearing awareness through fun songs, signed stories and the use of signing puppets ‘Billy and Ruby’, experiencing a range of benefits, including measures to protect their own hearing.
Aimed at two to ten year olds, the five week programme can be run over successive weeks, or as an individual session. As part of the five week programme each participant will receive an “I can sign” badge and alphabet card. Simply Signing now has five presenters delivering the programme across the country and will be offering the programme to schools and crèches from September
