Dublinia, one of the top school attractions, has three exciting exhibitions, Viking Dublin, Medieval Dublin and History Hunters; an interactive archaeology exhibition! Exhibitions are designed in-line with the primary and secondary school curriculum and students are toured by guides wearing historically accurate costume. Students engage with reconstructions of Dublin’s past and experience what life was like in Viking times, explore a Viking house, hear the story Dublin’s Viking king Sitric Silkbeard and feel the weight of Viking weaponry. Dublinia’s medieval exhibition explores life in Dublin after the Anglo-Norman arrival. Students explore fascinating and sensory reconstructions of a medieval house and street, stalls in a medieval fair and hear the gruesome history of the Black Death. In the History Hunters exhibition students discover the remains of a real Viking warrior buried in Dublin over 1000 years ago and see artefacts from the National Museum of Ireland as well as exploring an archaeological excavation, a science lab and an historian’s library.
Tours are tailored and adapt a tour based on class needs. Tours are interactive, engaging and fun while also paying particular attention to areas relevant to the curriculum.
