Kippure Adventure & Education Centre

Outdoor Adventure and Education

Kippure Estate is an estate of 240 acres in northwest Co. Wicklow, near Manor Kilbride village, offering a venue of great beauty and tranquillity. It is the perfect place for field trips, adventure, nature awareness, ecology and geographical investigations.

It is ideal for school groups who wish to carry out field studies as part of the school curriculum, primary and secondary, Junior and Leaving Certificate, or for those in search of fun and adventure. Transition Year groups also benefit hugely from our team building/bonding days on our ropes-based Adventure Course.

Our experienced staff provide the highest standard of tuition and endeavour to make the groups’ visit a memorable and high-quality experience.

We have all the equipment necessary to carry out the various field studies such as the River Study for the Leaving Certificate Geography, or the Ecology module of the Biology course where we also carry out studies in our mixed oak woodland. These studies are popular not only for examination classes but for all ages through primary and post-primary school. They can be combined with a half day of adventure to give the students not only the necessary mental stimulus they need but physical education as well. In fact, we have had entire schools visit us on one day for our ‘Fun & Adventure Days’.

To ensure the highest level of safety our instructor to student ratio is very high, 1:15 for field studies and 1:10 for adventure activities. We can cater for large groups quite comfortably so give us a call to discuss your requirements.

Team Building Adventure

All activities are physical but fun and require high levels of teamwork, commitment and cooperation. They include Orienteering, a High Ropes course containing Climbing, Abseiling, Vertical Challenge, Balance Beams, and High All- Aboard. Our Low Ropes course consists of a Challenge Course, Spider’s Web and Jungle Swing specifically designed with team work in mind. They are also great for those afraid of heights.

This one-day programme operates within school hours; all activities are onsite and provide you with a hassle-free day – overnight accommodation is available if you would like to make a two day event of it or even longer … a perfect excursion for Transition Year bonding. For Third level groups with a specific interest in ecology, outdoor education, and risk skills, Kippure is the perfect location with all the facilities to hand. Our Residential trips can also include Kayaking.

Kippure Estate is easily accessible from the M50, N11 and N81 and is located only 45 minutes from Dublin’s city centre. Schools and Colleges have visited us from all over Leinster, Tipperary and Waterford, and have come back year after year.
