Klassical Kidz on RTÉ Junior

RTÉ Junior, a digital radio station just for kids, has a new addition to its line-up. Klassical Kidz is a new weekly classical music programme just for younger listeners on Sundays at 6pm– and maybe some grown ups too - presented by Ian McGlynn.

Much has been written about the benefits of listening to classical music from a young age, but that doesn’t mean it has to take place in the classroom. Klassical Kidz is a fun and accessible introduction to the composers and instruments that have brought us some of the world’s greatest music.

Whether you’re mad about Mozart, bonkers for Beethoven or gaga for Gershwin, then we have something to keep you tuned in. And if you don’t know a piano from a piccolo, then this is just the place to find out everything about classical music you never knew! This isn’t a music lesson – it’s a programme made especially for you where you can witness the excitement of Dukas’ The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, the magic of John Williams’ Harry Potter theme, the beauty of Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata or the fury of the Flight of the Bumblebee.

So tune in to Klassical Kidz this Sunday 6-7pm on RTÉ Junior and repeated at 7pm every Thursday.
