A consultation has been launched that is intended to boost the protection of school kids in Ireland.
Earlier this week, Minister for Children Frances Fitzgerald revealed that an organisation needs to be created that is solely dedicated to making sure children are protected at all times.
In order to establish the best means of protection, Ms Fitzgerald
launched a consultation, which will see 1.4 million youngsters in
primary and
secondary schools across the nation asked about changes they would make to their childhood if they could.
Ms Fitzgerald said the formation of the new body will mean that the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) will no longer have children protection and welfare services, as she aims to improve standards.
As well as children's services, the HSE also offers support for those with disabilities, sufferers of cancer and addicts.
She promised that there will be "a body dedicated to the safety of our children and a body dedicated to stripping away the procrastination, the deception and evasion that has allowed abusers go unpunished".
