The Taoiseach, Enda Kenny TD, yesterday launched a free, interactive online maths resource for students and teachers in Ireland, which includes an option for live one-to-one tutorials.
The lessons have been developed by Galway-based Alison a global company that offers free online learning, in partnership with tutoring company Maths Doctor from Macmillan Science & Education. The lessons, are delivered by experienced maths tutors, and are aligned with the Irish Leaving Certificate Project Maths Syllabus.
To access the video lectures, students simply register and log on to the
Alison site. Students then choose a maths topic of interest to them from the course and can also link in with a maths tutor who is available to take them through syllabus lessons.
Students can learn at a pace and time to suit their individual requirements and lessons are facilitated through free videos and if desired, supplemented by a live tutor for a small cost. The tutor uses an online white board, which allows students to follow problem-solving with ease as well as interact with their tutor.
