The government has revealed its plans to build third-level colleges, which could be of note to
secondary school pupils in Ireland.
Earlier this week, it was confirmed that six facilities will be developed on four college campuses, under the Public Private Partnership scheme.
This will see the Limerick Institute of Technology's library and information resource centre being built, the University of Limerick's Glucksman Library extended and the Cork Institute of Technology's library gain a learning resource centre.
Three projects will take place at Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology, including developing its sports hall, digital media teaching building and its consolidated workshops.
Tanaiste Mary Coughlan said the projects are "strategically important investments for the smart economy".
She also announced that the preferred tenderer for the initiatives is Solas-Education for Life consortium.
This news comes after a new IT facility was opened at the Dundalk Institute of Technology earlier this month.
