It is never too soon for parents and students to start thinking about college living arrangements, it has been claimed.
According to the Irish Independent, there are two good options for first year pupils - digs and on-campus rooms.
The publication noted that the majority of universities and major colleges have a form of accommodation for students.
"In some cases, applications are already being accepted and there is no point in delaying if you can stake a claim on a place now," the newspaper stated.
A deposit may be required, but this will usually be refunded if a student fails to secure a place at their chosen institution.
Rental rates tend to vary depending on whether a room has an ensuite or if the student plans to share, it added.
In related news, the same publication reported earlier this month that an increasing number of Irish
Leaving Cert pupils are applying to study in the UK.
