Children’s charity Make-A-Wish® Ireland has come up with a brand new  fundraising initiative to engage secondary school students - Kids for Wish Kids Schools Entrepreneurship Awards 2014.

Open to all secondary school students nationwide, the competition will run from Monday September 1st to Monday 22nd December, and will be judged by a well-known judging panel of experts including Norah Casey, The winners will then be invited to an exclusive awards ceremony in Dublin in February 2015, where part of the prize will be a prestigious Kids for Wish Kids award for their school and professional references to go on their future CV!

Launching the awards, Norah Casey said “Innovation is an adventure and I am delighted to be a part of this one as a judge for the ‘Make-A-Wish Entrepreneurship Awards – Kids for Wish Kids Campaign’. Fundraising is ever more crucial today, and what better way to do it than to harness the spark in our young people to come up with great ideas for a magical cause.”

The entries to the Kids for Wish Kids Schools Entrepreneurship Awards 2014 will only be limited by the student’s imagination. The awards are designed to encourage students to develop their entrepreneurial skills, build their confidence and create a greater level of social enterprise. Students can take part by developing a mini-company, running an event or taking part in a challenge; and their project can involve an individual or group effort.
 
Make-A-Wish CEO Susan O’Dwyer also said “Schools play a huge part in helping us to grant special wishes to children in Ireland battling life threatening medical conditions such as leukaemia, cystic fibrosis, Duchenne muscular dystrophy and many others. We are delighted to have recruited a panel of such talented well-known experts from the media, retail and banking sectors as we really wanted to give students a sense of achievement by having made a real difference to children of their own age.”

The Make-A-Wish Foundation has brought immeasurable joy into the lives of so many children and families across the country. It provides relief from what can be the most difficult of times. Over the years, students have raised thousands of euro to help with this important work.

The Kids for Wish Kids Schools Entrepreneurship Awards 2014 Project is to be carried out during mid-September to mid- December 2014.
