Minister for Education Ruairi Quinn has welcomed the successful delivery of
14 new schools that have been under construction around the country.
These consist of 13 primaries and one post-primary facility and should provide classroom resources for 3,500 current pupils, as well as creating 1,000 new places.
Built under the 2011 Rapid Delivery Programme, construction began between February and April this year and all 14 locations are set to be completed by mid-November.
Mr Quinn said students at the schools will be able to benefit from improved learning environments and modern, energy efficient buildings.
"The Rapid Delivery Programme is an example of how the public and private sectors have embraced change and adapted their approaches in response to the challenging environment in which we now operate," he added.
Recently, it was also confirmed by the Department of Education that 28 new school building projects - most of which are to be managed by local Vocational Education Committees - have been approved, which will provide places for more than 21,000 students.
