School boy in knife attack in West Dublin

According to reports today, an incident happened last friday at St. Phillips School, Mountview, Dublin 15, which saw a 10 year old boy allegedly ‘lunge’ at fellow classmate with a large kitchen knife.

According to reports in the The Herald and Irish Mirror today, an incident had broken out after school because of an ongoing ‘feud’ between the two pupils. One of the pupils brought a kitchen knife to school and tried to attack the other student on the school grounds. The boy managed to escape harm after it was broken up by a nearby parent.

The fifth class boy reportedly put the knife in his bag then left the school grounds.

A subsequent row broke out with parents at the school this week when apparently the incident was not made public by the school nor were parents or Gardai notified. Only after the incident was discussed on late night radio talk show, Chris Barry at 98fm, where parents notified that a knife attack took place.

On Tuesday the school made a statement that an incident had took place and that Gardai are investigating and a student has been suspended.
