Footage of two girls fighting in a Douglas park in Cork has sparked outrage after it was uploaded to video sharing site YouTube.
Both the teenagers involved in the fracas were dressed in tracksuits, while a large crowd of children cheering on the pair could be seen wearing identifiable
school uniforms.
In response to the footage, Christ the King School in Turner's Cross released a statement ensuring horrified parents that efforts are being made to identify students that were at the scene and any who acted inappropriately will be punished.
"While we cannot control the actions of our pupils outside of school hours, Christ King students represent our school at all times and are advised that the school will invoke disciplinary procedures," a representative from the school stated.
The fight lasted several minutes and on several occasions shouts of "hit her, hit her" can be heard from onlookers in the crowd of boys and girls, while a number of onlookers are shown filming the incident on mobile phones.
