Teaching unions have returned to talks with the Department of Education over the Croke Park pay and reform deal.
While the majority of public sector unions have decided to accept the package, second-level
teachers, the Teachers' Union of Ireland (TUI) members of the Association of Secondary Teachers Ireland (ASTI) decided to reject it.
But the TUI and ASTI are now both back in talks with government officials to see if an agreement can be thrashed out, reports the Irish Independent.
ASTI general secretary designate Pat King said: "Our members have rejected the deal but we are willing to talk about it.
"We are trying to clarify issues."
Under the terms of the proposed deal, Ireland's 300,000 public sector workers will be guaranteed no further pay cuts or compulsory redundancies in the next four years.
In exchange, they will have to cooperate with a government transformation and efficiency drive, reported RTE.
