Application Procedure: Application forms for registration as a candidate for entry to First Year should reach the College on or before 1 st September in the year before the boy starts secondary school. In early September, the College will write to all parents/guardians who have sent in an application form for registration as a candidate for entry to first year in the following year, inviting them to confirm their application for registration and to attend the assessment day, normally held in mid-October.

Allocation Places: Since the number of applicants normally exceeds considerably the number of places available the following criteria for decision making will operate in the following order of priority:
· Suitability to life in a boarding school environment as adjudged by the Headmaster through reference to all available information will be a very significant factor in allocating a place in the College, · Brothers of present, or past , · Sons of members of the Clongowes' full-time teaching, prefecting,
administrative and other staff (subject to their terms of employment), · Nephews or grand nephews of Jesuits.
· Sons of past students, and students whose mother's brothers attended Clongowes. · Students from other Jesuit colleges. · Religion of the child/family in the following order-- Catholic, Christian, other religious beliefs, belief in a god, non belief. · Date of application for registration.
· Should all the places not be allocated using the above criteria, then the permanent home address of the student shall help to determine the remaining places
