As a childminder myself I would do a day rate of €40 and come to a mutual arrangement that suits boths sides over other hours. You should meet a couple of minders and see how you feel about them and explain from the start what hours would be like and come up with something fair. As I say I´m in Arklow but if you talk to minders you should come up with something and someone you are happy with. Best of luck and enjoy every minute of your little baby.

I´m in the early stages of pregnancy and am thinking about possible childcare options. I´d be looking for a childminder from Jan 2016 and I´m wondering if anyone can give me information on costs and how early I need to get this organised. My requirements are Childcare from 06:30 - 17:30 two - days a week. And occasionally more/evenings. I am a nurse so these days may change with 2 weeks notice. Preferably in childminders own home with other children to socialize with. Good references required.
