| Help!!! How much do I pay a childminder?

Hopefully somebody can help me out. I am searching for a childminder for my 4 year old. I have been advertising for someone for after school pick up and full time in the school breaks. So far I´ve been asked for €10-€12 per hour. In the summer that could be more than €2,000pm. I can´t affort this at all and it´s 4 times as much as the local creche. Everyone quoting me is not qualified and not paying tax/prsi etc. Is this too much??? If it is then how much is fair for both of us? We live in Meath. Thank you!

Hi How are you I´m a home based childminder and I charge for 4 years old part time 70 euro and full time 155.
I have 8 years experience, registered with Childminding Ireland , insured, Garda vetted, good references.
I donno if you are close to my area I live in Portobello D8 , it´s 10 min walking from the city center, if you have interest in my services give me a call

hey im a registered childminder i charge a flat rate full day 40 euro or 25 for a half day dont go by hourly rate would be expensive when added up and if there is siblings it would be an extra half of the above hope that helps k

Hi, Thats way too much to pay - I´m a qualified childminder with garda clearance first aid, etc. etc. (I´m no use to you I live in north county dublin). What you should do is contact Meath County Childcare Committee as they inspect homes and people can´t register with them unless they have the above. They will give you a list of minders in your area who give sensible rates. Their website is http://www.mccc.ie/.. By the way I charge on average 4.50 per hour per child.

Those prices are exhorbitant - why dont you phone your local meath county council they should have a list of registered and insured childminders that are also garda vetted. If not phone Childminding Ireland they have a database of the same cailbre of childminders - I would recomend a fee of 5 -6 euro per hour to include food etc.! Good luck with the hunt..
