Montessori School for students with Additional Needs           reply
01/02/2015 18:08 - Pre-school / Montessori (Locality: Westmeath)
-----------------------------------
I am currently in the process of opening a Montessori Preschool in September 2015 in the Athlone/Roscommon area. The Montessori School will provide early intervention for children 2 1/2yrs-5yrs with additional needs.

I have a B.A (HONS) in Montessori Education from St. Nicholas College, Dun Laoghaire, Also I have a PG Hip and Msc. I have qualified in various other training programmes- Home-Train-Social Skills, Lamh, and PECS

I am an accredited member of St. Nicholas Montessori Society of Ireland (SNMTA) and IMEB accreditation. I am registered with the Department of Education.

It will operate a specialised pre-school class; using the traditional Montessori Curriculum along with PECS and Lamh (communication) and Home-train Social Skills programme, and fine motor skills programme. All children will be taught in 1-1 situations as well as in small groups.

The class will consist of 3-6 children with 1 Special Needs Teacher and classroom assistants. All children will have specific work programmes for their individual needs and goals.

The main idea of Montessori Method is that every child is treated with respect, given freedom within the limits of a carefully structured environment, and allowed to develop naturally at their own pace. Each child in our care will be nurtured and taught to meet their individual needs. They will learn at their own pace and will cover many areas of learning including:
• Mathematics • Botany • Language • Science • Practical Life
• Arts & Crafts • Sensorial • Drama • Geography• Computers
• History • Botany • Culture • Music
Freedom in the classroom to select and complete their own work encourages their self-confidence and self-worth. They are educated to respect and enjoy their world around them. We focus on learning that is fun while still developing their social skills, self-expression and self-esteem.

Our Montessori schools participate in the Government ECCE Scheme and the Home Tuition Grant

All our teachers hold First Aid as a minimum requirement. Examples of other qualifications held include nursing, computers, art, childcare, school age care.

Staff are all Garda vetted.

PM for more information.
Thank you.
