Hi Mary, since it has been 2011 since your last post I´m not sure if you will get to see this. I´m a past pupil of Caherline but i finished in 1987, the reason I´m writing is to tell you that I´m putting together a school reunion for all past pupils up to the leaving class of 2008. You might know my dad through school too Johnnie O´ Donnell. Elizabeth Stanley is one of the past pupils who is also helping with the reunion and we are also putting together a commemorative book on the history of the school from 1838 to 2015 and we´re looking for old class photos and stories and memories that people may have.
The reunion is taking place the 27th December 2015 in the Millennium Centre Caherconlish in the form of a Dinner/Dance and all proceeds from the night and the book will be going back to the school.
Hopefully you still check in on this site and if you do I would love to hear from you. We have an email address where you can message me and if you want I can then give you my phone number if you want to get in contact. The email address is caherlineschoolreunion@gmail.com
We have also set up a Facebook page called Caherline School Reunion.
I´m really hoping your get this message.
Take care
Marian Kennedy (O´ Donnell)

Hello Patsy,So good to hear from you today. All  is well with us,and I hope things are good with you also.

Indeed it is a long time since we last met, but of course I remember you very clearly. I can actually remember us practicing a duet in Mrs. Ryan´s classroom, for a concert. I am not sure if we did it on stage or not,but  if we didn´t we should have. I thought we sounded great !  The title was "In a Tiny House"It is a pity that there are no past pupils´ re-unions in Caherline . Time has gone by so quickly since our school days. At heart I am very much a Caherline woman.

I often look back to my childhood days, the long walk to school in sunshine and in rain, being afraid of being late, preparing for First Communion and Confirmation, and of course when the inspector came.

Caherline in my memory and Caherline as it is now are probably in many ways so different. I am sure that many changes are for the better.

I tend to remember Caherline as a great place for me  to have grown up in. To get home from Caherline we had Ballybrood hill to climb and then the glen was an oasis of tranquility. That journey was a bit like life itself, I suppose.

Maybe someone will arrange a re-union!

Best regards

Mary

Hi,

I would be grateful if anyone can tell me if they remember Jerry O´Sullivan, who thaught in Caherline, either in the late forties or early fifties. I´m not sure of the exact years.

Appreciated,

Dermot O´Sullivan

Hello Patsy and Mary,  The three of us danced a three-hand reel together in the long-ago. Since then my children and now my grandson Ross have all attended Caherline.  Happily the ethos of the school has not changed and it is always a pleasure to go over there.

I met Patsy on O´Connell Street, Limerick last Friday and he told me he had read your post on this site.  It is great to hear that you are well.  It would be lovely if we could meet up when you are down in Limerick next.

By the way, the ´tiny house´ concert ... was that the year that Gerard Wright was "The Lad from Larraghamore".  I had to introduce that and remember having huge difficulty pronouncing the word.

dh mr,

Elizabeth.

Hi Elizabeth,

Nice to hear from you. Indeed I remember our three hand reel. The audience was great for clapping.

I´m glad Patsy mentioned me when you met. I would love to meet you sometime. Do you ever come to Dublin? If you are coming up anytime let me know and we can meet,

What great continuity you have had with regard to Caherline being home. We have lived mostly in Counties Kildare and Dublin, in the latter for 22 years.

Very best regards

Mary
