Our range of school tours allow students to explore the astonishing feats of the Parsons family in the fields of Astronomy, Engineering, Science and Photography. Be inspired as you journey through our seven science galleries, marvel at the Great Telescope (the biggest in the world for over 70 years) and climb Ireland’s Tallest Treehouse! Our aim is to incorporate your school curriculum into each individual tour and create a unique experience for all.
There are a multitude of trails and quests to choose from:
- The Quest – weather permitting
Explore a journey through time, from great engineering feats to wildlife discoveries, and many more highlights in between. - The Solar Trail –
Walk the Solar Trail and experience the size, distance, and scale of our Solar System along the 2km route. Be inspired and gain a new perspective and appreciation of the planets, our Sun, and our place in space. - The Flora Trail (Mid-March – Late June)
Includes 20 native trees and plants for you to discover from mid-March until late June. - The Red Tree Trail –
Discover Birr Castle Demesne’s 65 Trees of Distinction with this exciting trail. - The Gallery Challenge -
This challenge will take you through our seven Science Galleries where you will find the answers written along the walls and hidden among the displays.
