Compass Club After School

Compass Club by Coillte is an outdoor activity provider for kids of 6-12 years of age. Using the Coillte forests and woods around Ireland it is great for getting kids doing outdoor activities during term time. Running one day a week (over 6 weeks), courses are available throughout the school year, so even if you miss one there’ll be another starting soon after.

And because kids love coming back to Compass Club, we keep things fresh and exciting by changing the activities around every term. But don’t worry, favourites like scavenger hunts, toasting marshmallows and energising games will always be part of the fun.

As well as a world of fun and friendship, afternoons filled with exciting, interesting outdoor activities that they will want to do over and over again, when you sign your child up to Compass Club, you are joining an activity that is built with Strengths-Based Education principles interwoven throughout. For parents, this means that you are confident in the knowledge that the CompassClub team will be focused on your child’s strengths and bringing them to life not on controlling, commanding or corralling your child. We can do this because we only operate with small groups of children in each of our AfterSchool courses – no more than 16 children in a group, and a minimum of two leaders.

With this focus it means that we are always looking for the positives and the strengths in your child so we’re always in encouragement and engagement mode.

Kids today get enough heavily structured activities, with loads of rules and directions and as a result they are losing the ability to responsibly think and do things for themselves like their parents had to. With CompassClub kids develop a sense of responsibility in a structured broad way as we demonstrate, encourage and involve kids in how to be responsible for themselves and others while having fun and then we empower them to do just that! And, they absolutely love it!

To top it all off, shortly after the end of each course parents will get a brief report on the strengths their child demonstrated on the course with us. Kids love it because it is written by their CompassClub leader someone that they’ve grown to respect, like and trust during the course and as it focuses only on strengths, they can see that their leader thinks very highly of them.

“it was a great thing for us as his parents to see him so happy each morning going out the door to camp and to have him look forward to the next day’s camp each evening! Hats off to you all on such a great adventure and positive experience for my son his self-esteem is through the roof!!” Mum, Cork
