Farmer Time

What do your students know about farming? Can they link what they eat with how it’s produced? Farmer Time inspires, engages and teaches students about farming, food production and Ireland’s agricultural industry.

Farmer Time is a free, interactive programme for Primary and Secondary schools. It links farmers and students through digital video calls from the farm to the classroom across the school year.

How does it work?
  • Schools and Farmers register for Farmer Time
  • Farmers complete Garda Vetting
  • Teachers and Farmers are paired and introduced by email
  • Each 1:1 pairing works together to schedule their fortnightly calls
  • Farmer Time Administrator offers regular contact and support

Farmers connect every two weeks to chat to their matched teacher and class about life and work on the farm, seasonal changes and farm activities. Students can discuss ideas, ask questions, share knowledge, and gain a ‘real-time’ understanding of our agricultural industry.

Farmer Time aims to educate young people about food, farming and food production. In reality, it goes way beyond that! This free programme brings your curriculum to life! It promotes an understanding of a wide range of subjects including Science, Ag Science, Home Economics, Maths, SESE, SPHE and more!

Airfield Estate launched Farmer Time Ireland in September 2021 supported by SuperValu. In our first year we connected 53 schools and farmers across the country. Together we delivered over 140 hours of learning in Primary and Secondary classrooms.

Schools are already registering for Sept ‘22. Don’t miss out - book your place today!
