The GAA Museum at Croke Park has launch a brand new menu of experiences for secondary school students that offer an educational, fun and worthwhile day out at Croke Park for Junior Cert Cycle, Leaving Cert Cycle and Transition Year students alike.

This experience is designed especially for students studying History for the Leaving Certificate.
What better way to really immerse your students in the story of the GAA than with a history field trip at the home of Gaelic games. This visit centres around four themes:

National Awakenings

We begin with the ultimate scene setter – a screening of our specially commissioned National Awakenings film, which charts the birth of the GAA at a time of cultural revival in Ireland.

GAA Museum Show and Tell

This is a fascinating, in-depth tour of the GAA Museum, where your tour guide will point out exhibits and artefacts linked to prominent historical figures that are key to the Leaving Certificate syllabus.

Historical Croke Park

Here students will get under the skin of Croke Park, visiting the dressing rooms and warm-up area before experiencing the thrill of walking pitchside through the players’ tunnel.

A World Class Venue

From a look back to a look down – students will get to take a break from the history and enjoy a birds’ eye view of the famous pitch from the Mícheál O’Hehir Media Centre.

Ericsson Skyline Tour

Tour Guides will treat your students to a Dublin City Tour like no other, giving them an insight into its heartfelt history from 17 storeys high on Dublin’s highest open-viewing platform.

Croke Park Stadium Tour

Your students will get to take a seat in the VIP area, sneak a peek inside the dressing rooms and even walk in the footsteps of Gaelic legends as they go pitchside through the players’ tunnel!

€19.50 per student (minimum 10 students)

3. Bloody Sunday Centenary Tour

In honour of the 100th anniversary of Bloody Sunday, the GAA Museum remembers the tragedy of Bloody Sunday with special commemorative guided tours of Croke Park. The Tour consists of:

National Awakenings
We begin with the ultimate scene setter – a screening of our specially commissioned National Awakenings film. This film will show original footage of Croke Park in the 1920’s and charth the birth of the GAA.

Ericsson Skyline Tour
Get a birds’ eye view of the key sites in Dublin city where the events leading up to the tragedy in Croke Park from 17 stories high.

Croke Park Stadium Tour
The group then enter the stadium itself, where they will visit the Bloody Sunday Remembrance plaque.

Museum Exhibition
The visit concludes in the GAA Museum where the group will have the opportunity to view fascinating artefacts from this period including a match ticket from Bloody Sunday, the referee’s whistle and a pair of glasses last worn at the match.

€15 per student with a minimum of 10 students

4. The TY Time Out

This action-packed experience has been designed especially for TY teens around four key themes:

TY Tour - A whistle-stop tour of Croke Park which includes a visit to the dressing rooms and pitchside.

TY Recipes for Success - An introduction to healthy eating for both physical and academic performance.

TY Trials - Students work in relay teams to complete a physical challenge.

TY Selfie Success - Capture the moment! Students are asked to upload their favourite photos from their Croke Park experience to Instagram using the hashtag #GAAMuseumTY.

The best image from the school year will win a set of jerseys for everyone in the class who paid us a visit. And the best bit? The winning photographer will work with the GAA Museum team to design the unique jersey and incorporate their picture into the style. #nofilter

5. Croke Park / Glasnevin Cemetery Museum Joint Offer

Bring your class on a visit to Croke Park and Glasnevin Cemetery – two places connected in remembering the past and working to educate future generations.

Just a mile apart, and located in Dublin’s historical north inner city, both sites share an opportunity for secondary school students to brush up on their Irish history in memorable surroundings.

For €15 per student (based on a minimum of ten students), your class can enjoy the Croke Park Stadium Tour and a visit to the GAA Museum as well as a guided tour of Glasnevin Cemetery.

Glasnevin Cemetery Museum offers exciting and engaging education programmes that link closely with the Secondary History curriculum and can be adapted to suit your students' needs.
