Rockjam is an innovative new music course that allows girls and boys, aged 7 to 17, to become part of their own rock band, learn how to play new instruments and write their own music. Based in 5 locations across Dublin, Rockjam has quickly grown from a single band in 2015 to 25 bands in 2018. The result is a dynamic music community with professional musicians from Ireland's top bands working with students to make music education more enjoyable and rewarding.

One such success story is The Flaming Strawberries. These young lads came together in Rockjam during one of our 10-week courses. The band had the opportunity to learn how to play the drums, electric guitar and keyboard, as Rockjam provides all the instruments that the students need. At the end of the course the boys performed in a Gig in The Purty Kitchen for parents, friends and fellow Rockjam students.

Before long the boys had clocked up 10 gigs, and some fantastic original music. The band was rewarded with Rockjams first Record Deal. In March of 2018, The Flaming Strawberries got to record a song they wrote in one of Irelands top studios with Producer Gavin Glass (Musical Director of ‘Sing Street’). Their single, “Hello For Now” reached number 16 in the Irish charts and is still available on Spotify!

But it’s not just about chart success! Rockjam is a great introduction to music. Not only can students write their own music, they can also play their favourite music from ACDC to Ed Sheeran, Fleetwood Mac to Taylor Swift. Our mission is to make music fun again and to create a music community where students can share their love of music.
