SH Transition Year Programme 2017/18

From Orienteering to Archery, Zorbing to Wall Climbing, CV Preparation to Interview Skills, Bunratty Castle and Folk Park is the ideal venue for Transition Year Students to develop their teambuilding, leadership and communication skills.

This one day programme is designed to equip students with practical life skills necessary for real life situations and is closely linked to modules within the Transition Year Programme, such as; cultural studies, interpersonal skills and leadership skills.

Participants will have the opportunity to explore the following in a workshop environment which is interactive and participative;

  • Leadership Skills
  • Communication Skills
  • Assertiveness Techniques
  • CV Preparation
  • Interview Techniques
  • Individual Motivated Skills

Participants will put their skills into practice and select activities in a fun and structured environment;

Activities include:
  • Foot Golf
  • Kick Darts
  • Archery
  • Wall Climbing
  • Zorbing
  • Team Challenges

Duration of Programme: 10am to 4pm

Cost: €30 per student

King John’s Castle Transition Year Workshop

This programme is aimed at Transition Year students wishing to build their communication, teambuilding and leadership ability. Also by completing the workshop students will be able to gain an appreciation of the local history associated with King John’s Castle and the Historic Quarter.

Sample Programme Outline – 3 hours – Maximum per group 25
  • 10:00 Students Arrive – briefing in Education Suite giving history of King John’s Castle and setting objectives for the workshop.
  • 10:30 Leadership Activity – students put into syndicate groups of 5/6 and set task which involves doing tour of the Castle and completing the activity along the way.
  • 12:00 Debrief and Feedback in the Education Suite. Students discuss how the exercise went and what they have learned regarding, King John’s Castle, how they communicated and worked in their teams, leadership skills etc. Personal Action Plan.
  • 13:00 Workshop Ends
