The Department of Education has published the two different
pay scales that will apply in the new year to teachers who have been appointed since February 2012. (Teachers appointed prior to 1st February are not affected).
The first point on the new scale will be €32,806 rising from the existing rate of €31,009 rising to €62,905 over 27 years. While thousands of young teachers will benefit from these changes, these new higher rates will only be paid to teaches who are in the INTO and TUI as these Unions have accepted the Landsdowne Road Agreement. Further increases are due in September 2017 and January 2018.
ASTI members which have not accepted the LRA will continue on existing scales. ASTI members are due to ballot on updated pay proposals in January however the ASTI Central Executive is recommending that members reject the proposals
