Bus Eireann Statement re School Transport Services

"Parents/Guardians of children using school transport services are advised that due to flooding a small number of routes in some parts of the country may be subject to disruption, due to circumstances beyond our control.

Where flooding is an issue most services will operate with diversions, though we envisage a minor amount of services will be unable to operate until flood waters recede further.  This situation is being closely monitored and in these areas normal services will resume as soon as it is physically possible to do so.

The areas currently affected include:

North Mayo – all services expected to operate, some diversions will apply

South Mayo – Ballinrobe/Neale area, services will operate with diversions

Offaly – flooding in the Pollagh area serving Ferbane post primary centre means this service may operate to the closest safe point to Pollagh village only

Longford – service to Moyne on the R14070 will be disrupted affecting a small number of families

Athlone – main roads currrently clear, so services not affected

Carlow – Bagnelstown, services expected to operate with some diversions

Kilkenny – Graiguenamanagh, Bennetsbridge, Inistogue, Thomastown – services expected to operate with some local diversions

Tipperary – Cahir, Carrick on Suir, Clonmel – services expected to operate with some local diversions

Waterford – Aglish, Clashmore – services expected to operate with some local diversions

Wexford – Enniscorthy – services expected to operate with some local diversions

Sligo – all services expected to operate, some diversions will apply

Galway – services are generally expected to operate normally with the exception of service to Kilcolgan ETNS from the Labane/Kilcogan area, which will operate with diversions.  Services to Gort and Kinvara post primary schools will operate but will be rerouted via Kilcolgan.  Kinvara national school and Ballyglass national school may also be affected

Roscommon – all services to operate as normal with the exception of one service from the Carrowmore/Ballintubber area to Castlerea post primary centre which currently will not be able to operate

Cork – diversions will be in place on the Killeagh to Castlemartyr Road in East Cork affecting services to Midleton post primary and Carrigtwohill primary schools.  Services to Scoil Triest in Cork City from East Cork will also be subject to diversion.  All other services expected to operate as normal

Monaghan – services to Ballybay, Rockcorry and Latton from the Cootehill Road are not expected to operate.  Service to Central national school (Castleblayney Central School), Oram national school and Castleblayney post primary schools from the Keady Road will be disrupted and may not be able to operate.  All other services expected to operate as normal, some with minor diversions

Cavan – service to Cootehill post primary and Dernakesh primary schools from Canningstown Road/Sharpes Corner are not expected to operate.  Service to St Bricin’s post primary in Belturbert from the Belturbert-Killeshandra Road may not be able to operate.  All other services expected to operate as normal, some with minor diversions

Kerry – Currently all services to operate as normal with the possible exception of Banna/Ballyheighe where a minor diversion may be necessary

Limerick/Galway – Services to Gort and Kinvara post primary schools will operate but will be rerouted via Kilcolgan.  Kinvara national school and Ballyglass national school may also be affected

Please note that this position is subject to change depending on the meteorological situation. Services in all other areas are expected to operate normally.
