New primary schools opening and amalgating near you

There are five new primary schools opening around the country this week ! Details of the new schools are below. By clicking on the links below you will find contact details for the new schools where they are available.

There are also details below of a number of schools which are amalgamating from this September to create six new schools.

The following is a list of schools due to open in September 2016:

  • Goatstown/Stillorgan Gaelscoil (20487T) in Goatstown, Co. Dublin:
    This new multidenominational Irish-medium school is to serve the Stillorgan and Goatstown will open in September 2016 with one class. Note that the location of the school has not yet been confirmed but the schools patron, An Foras Pátrúnachta, is working with the Department of Education & Skills to finalise appropriate accommodation for the school.

  • Drumcondra/Marino Educate Together National School (20486R) in All Hallows College Campus, Grace Park Road, Dublin 9:
    New Educate Together School to open in Dublin North Central September 2016. The School (pre-fab) will housed on the grounds of All Hallows and will start with one Junior Infants Class in September 2016. The principal appointed to this new school is Marcus Wynne.

  • Broome Bridge Educate Together National School (20453C) in Cabra, Dublin 7:
    Educate Together has been appointed as patron of a new national school in Cabra/Phibsborough opening this September 2016. The brand new building will be situated on Bannow Road in Cabra and will be ready in mid-August. The school has been approved for two Junior Infant classes (58 places).

  • Riverview Educate Together School (20494Q) in Greenhills, Dublin 12:
    Educate Together is delighted at the Department of Education and Skills announcement that a new equality-based Educate Together national school is to be established in Limekiln Road Dublin 12. Riverview Educate Together National School will open to Junior Infants this September.

  • Castlebar Educate Together National School (20457K) in Castlebar, Co. Mayo:
    Castlebar Educate Together National School will open its doors to Junior Infants this September. The school will be based in Marsh House in the centre of Castlebar. Castlebar ETNS will open as part of the divestment process. This process of reconfiguration was recommended in 2012/2013 by the government-appointed Forum for Patronage and Pluralism to progress the transfer of patronage of a small number of Catholic schools to another patron such as Educate Together where there is parental demand to do so.


    The following is a list of schools due to amalgamate in September 2016:

  • St Agnes NS in Crumlin, Dublin 12 (20014W)
    and CBS Primary School in Crumlin, Dublin 12 (19889J)
    will amalgamate from September 2016.
    The newly amalgamated school will be called:
    Scoil Úna Naofa, Roll Number: 20488V
    Armagh Road, Crumlin, Dublin 12 with Ms Adrienne Ni Chellaigh as Principal

  • Michaels Street NS, New Ross (12372G),
    Scoil na mBraithre, New Ross (16741I)
    and St Joseph’s NS, New Ross (17457Q)
    will amalgamate from 1st of September 2016 to form two new schools.
    The newly amalgamated schools will be called :
    Bunscoil Nic Amhlaidh, Roll Number: 20481H (Junior Mixed)
    New Ross, Co. Wexford with Ms Elma Sutton as Principal
    and Bunscoil Ris, Roll Number: 20482J (Senior Mixed)
    New Ross, Co Wexford with Mr Brian McMahon as Principal

  • St Joseph’s GNS, Rathnew (16874E)
    and St Ernan’s BNS, Rathnew (18962L)
    will amalgamate from the 1st September 2016.
    The newly amalgamated school will be called:
    St Coen’s Primary School, Roll Number: 20208M
    Rathnew, Co Wicklow with Ms Miriam Cahill as Principal.

  • Presentation Convent Girls NS, Mooncoin (05437R)
    and Scoil Mhuire Lourdes BNS, Mooncoin (16887N)
    will amalgamate from the 1st September 2016.
    The newly amalgamated school will be called:
    Scoil Mhuire, Roll Numer: 20492M
    Mooncoin, Co. Kilkenny with Ms Kathy Egan as Principal.

  • Presentation Primary School, Doneraile (04268P)
    and St Joseph’s CBS Primary School, Doneraile (18657G)
    will amalgamate from the 1st September 2016
    The newly amalgamated school will be called:
    Doneraile National School, Roll Number: 20493O
    Doneraile, Co. Cork

    The following is a list of schools due to be closing by September 2016:

  • Sherkin Island NS (14065H) in Baltimore, Co Cork
  • Glenisland NS (09658H) in Glenisland, Castlebar, Co Mayo
