The Luas strikes arrangements have been reviewed after it emerged that their original schedule would directly affect students sitting their Leaving and Junior Cert exams which begin at 9.30am on Wednesday, 8th June.
The industrial action was originally scheduled for 9am - 1pm on the 8th,9th and 10th of June but the times have now been changed to between 6pm and 10pm on the same dates.
SIPTU Organiser, John Murphy, said:
“It was never the intention of our members to impact on students taking State examinations. When it was brought to our members’ attention that some of the scheduled work stoppages did impact on students travelling to sit the Junior and Leaving Certificate exams the decision was immediately taken to amend their timing.”
A work stoppage on Thursday, 2nd June, will take place as previously scheduled from 3.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. with work stoppages on Friday, 3rd June and Tuesday, 7th June also going ahead as scheduled from 9.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m.
