We give our current childminder, who we absolutely love, €10/hrwhen she has 1 child, €12/hr when she has our 2 children and €10/hr at nighttime if we are socialising, which rarely happens. Now she wants 15/hr day or night no matter what, whether children are asleep or awake, still minded in our house. I don´t know what to do. Thank you for your advice. It´s good to talk to someone who knows how it all works :)

Would it be her hours have been decreased so she´s had to increase her rate per hour..have you asked why she looking for more money or where the €15 came from....I do agree though €15 an hr seems very high but perhaps this her only income but this not your issue either but tricky especially if you really don´t want lose her!

Thank you for your advice. That sounds about right. Both kids are very quiet, easy to manage and very easy to put to sleep so I think your rates sound more acceptable really.

No problem at all x
Did you or a prospective minder suggest €15 an hour (waaayyyy OTT in my opinion, as a parent and a professional childminder, I wouldn´t feel right with that amount)

This is what really annoys me about childcare people think childminders and childcare workers do nothing only play with kids all day they don´t see how much childcare providers actually do its a huge responsibility looking after kids they have to be watched, entertaining and fet along with some parents expecting them to clean the house bring them to and from play dates do shopping ect . Childminders work hard and should be paid according to the world they do the same as childcare staff who pay over 4000 euro on qualifications only to be paid €10 ph or less until childminders stop expecting smarties for the work they do the Childminding will never be a respected career

I would have thought €10 for hours children are awake and €8.50 for hours children are asleep!
Obviously if youngest doesn´t sleep well (for whatever reason, teething, growth spurt etc) maybe give a few €€ more x

Hi everyone, we have 2 children, ages 1 and 3.5 and we live in a country village. What rate could I expect to be paying?
