I thought all mid-terms were standard? This must have been an exception.

Just wondering if all schools are returning after the mid-term on Monday or are some returning on Tuesday. All the schools in my locality seem to be reopening on Monday.

Most schools I know of were back today.

I thought these closures were standard but perhaps there´s some small element of flexibility. It would have been great for the children to have been off on the day after Halloween but they survived if they weren´t.

Hi Elliesull
The Dept of Education are currently in talks with the teachers unions to set the school holidays calendar for the next three years. We contacted the Department of Education in the last couple of weeks and were advised that the calendar was likely to become available early in the new year. As soon as it becomes available we will put it up on the site.

Mid term breaks for Halloween, christmas and easter are agreed for all schools between the department of education and the teacher unions so most schools should be reopening on Monday.

Schools do have some additional days which they can take during the course of the year and we have heard of a few schools who are using one of these days on the monday because of Halloween being on Sunday. We have also heard of a secondary school who sent out a text during the week to parents advising that school wouldn´t start until 11am on Monday.

Is there any idea yet as to the dates of the Halloween break next year? Halloween should be on a Monday so perhaps the break will be 31st October and the first 4 days in November?
