The Consumer Show: Kids playing ‘free’ games on smartphone/tablet and ran up bill

The Consumer Show is looking to talk to anyone who has had difficulties in relation to ‘free’ children’s’ game apps on their smartphone and tablets – and finding themselves with unexpected charges or high costs on their credit cards. This could have been through your children buying coins, berries, additional purchases etc., to try and progress further in the game. These ‘in-app purchases’ mean that payments are taken automatically from the credit cards of adult owners, through their Google, iTunes or Amazon accounts which their cards are linked to. Many parents don’t realise until they get their credit card statements, or sometimes when they try to use their cards and find they have insufficient funds.

Has this happened to you or any of your friends? Have you been left with a massive bill? Did you manage to get it resolved?

We would love to hear your stories. Please get in touch with me at sharon@cocotelevision.ie or call me on 01 2084640.
