As part of our Digital Offering, we are delivering webinars about online safety to parents. Our objective is that parents leave these webinars feeling empowered; they will have an awareness of the risks online for children and practical tips that will help them keep their children safe and resilient online.

Following on the success of our chess courses for teachers and enquiries from parents, Moves for Life have launched a new course for parents of primary school children at home during the lockdown. Chess 4 Parents is for parents who are new to chess. The focus is on playing mini-games for fun. The initial games are easy enough for senior infants to play and develop from there to the basics of the full game. The objective is to make the elements of chess accessible and fun. This course will be run over 3 Tuesdays.

The SHINE Festival is a 3-day online event that can be accessed from March 8th to 10th. SHINE Festival will have 6 stages where topics such as wellness, consent, mental health, careers, arts, sports, sustainability and much much more will be discussed. In terms of interaction, there will be a treasure hunt to win some great prizes such as books, The Shona Project goodies and vouchers, along with some 3-minute mind hacks to get the girls up and moving about.

These will begin with the St Patrick’s Day Show! The St Patrick’s Day competition is now open to all children, as STARCAMP and Gala are going to give away prizes for BEST SONG, BEST ART, BEST PARADE AND BEST BAKING. For this year’s online Festival, a rich and dynamic series of events are being safely created and recorded by hundreds of artists, musicians, performers, makers, creators, arts and live events workers and community organisations across Ireland. These events will run on St. Patrick’s Festival TV (SPF TV), a dedicated online TV channel at stpatricksfestival.ie, which launches on March 12 and runs over six great virtual days and nights, and will be accessible globally.
