Minister for Education Norma Foley TD, Minister of State for Special Education and Inclusion Josepha Madigan TD and Minister of State for Sport and Physical Education Thomas Byrne TD have congratulated the X candidates across Ireland receiving the results of their Leaving Certificate examinations today.

From 10am today, the State Examinations Commission (SEC) will issue Leaving Certificate 2023 results to students who sat the Leaving Certificate Established, Leaving Certificate Applied and Leaving Certificate Vocational Programmes. Ministers Foley, Madigan and Byrne have reminded all students of the many supports available to them to support their wellbeing and discuss the future education and career options which they may wish to explore.

Minister Foley said: “I would like to extend the heartiest of congratulations to each and every one of the over 60,000 students across Ireland receiving their results today. Today brings enormous reward and recognition for all your hard work and dedication over the past number of years, including through challenging times.

“This is an exciting occasion in your life, filled with the prospects of the many great and varied opportunities that lie ahead. To all of you receiving results today, I wish you every success and happiness as you embark on the next stage in your life. Whether the next step on your journey will take you to work, an apprenticeship, further or higher education, or other possibilities, I hope you can enjoy today and reflect on all that you have achieved so far to bring you to this point.

“I would also like to pay tribute to the teachers, principals, school communities, parents and guardians and indeed all of those who put huge work into both supporting candidates throughout their journey and ensuring this year’s Leaving Certificate exams passed smoothly.”

Minister Madigan said: “I would like to sincerely congratulate the Leaving Certificate Class of 2023 receiving their exam results today. It bears testament to your hard work and offers an opportunity to reflect on and celebrate all that you have achieved so far. No matter what results you receive today you should feel very proud of everything that you have accomplished. There are more flexible pathways open to you to achieve your goals than ever before. It is a very proud day for students, and for their families and school communities who have guided and supported them, and I wish them the very best of luck for the future.
“I want to thank the dedicated teachers, SNAs, school staff and agencies, including the State Examinations Commission, who helped to ensure that students were supported in their education journey and empowered with information about their choices throughout Leaving Certificate 2023.”

Minister Byrne said: “Congratulations to all students receiving their Leaving Certificate results today, including 7,155 students receiving results in their Physical Education (PE) examination. This is your day, marking the culmination of the significant time, work and learning you have undertaken along your education journey to date. Today also signifies the beginning of a new path for you and there are a wide range of supports available to you in exploring your many varied options.
“To all students who undertook studies and exams in Physical Education, I hope that you will continue to take advantage of the insights, skills and healthy habits offered by the subject into the future. Congratulations on your results today.”
