What is a VSCO Girl?

Where did the term come from??

VSCO (pronounced “visco”) is a photo editing and sharing App which assists in making photos look great, but in a cool effortless way! Just like your Tween or Teen…

VSCO Girl was a fun name for someone who tried too hard to make her photo feed look cool or to become internet-famous. Along with the evolution of TikTok, which is the app of choice among teens, there are now tons of videos – mostly jokey with the hashtags #VSCO or #VSCOgirls that have endless views.

The top definition on Urban Dictionary for VSCO Girl is – “Wears oversized t-shirts or sweatshirt with Nike shorts. Has Vans, Crocs, Birks and wears a shell necklace. She also wears tube tops and Jean shorts. She always has a hydroflask. She can't leave home without a scrunchie and her favourite car is a jeep.”

Has your tween or teen girl been wearing oversized T-shirts, Birkenstock sandals, shell necklaces complimented with a messy bun with a throwback to the 90s………..the scrunchie? She just might be a VSCO girl— and a super possibility if she has asked for a Hyrdroflask?

They are climate conscious, use metal straws and they want to “save the turtles,” Nothing wrong with that, in fact it is all quite positive.

Apart from maybe the price of the Hydroflask………….but hey Christmas is on the way, Hydroflask under the tree might be the best pressie ever along with a new scrunchie of course.

All in all, VSCO Girl is a trend and perhaps not such a bad thing. These gals may get parodied online, but this new trend is one that encourages people to be environmentally conscious, kind, and positive. Lets hope it does not fade away. #VSCOgirls
