Greenan Maze School Tours

Situated in the beautiful countryside of the Wicklow hills Greenan Maze been hosting school tours for nearly 20 years and have very experienced and friendly tour guides. A school tour at Greenan Farm Museums & Maze includes an educational, active and full day outing which includes elements of heritage and local history, nature and environmental activities, and age specific tours. We believe in giving a high quality tour and therefore only host two groups per day. Tours can last from 2 ½ to 4 hours depending on your requirements.

Visit two full sized mazes, three traditional farming museums, wild nature walks, ponds and abundant wild-life, farm animals, treasure hunts and a fairy tree walk for toddlers, kids playground, a craft shop and tea-rooms with home baking, this farm is a fantastic day out. The Irish Times designated it a Heritage Hot Spot stating that “it’s an antidote to urban living within easy reach of Dublin”.

Transition Year Bio-Diversity Tours

Secondary School Tours:

On our nature activity tour students will learn about biodiversity in both the natural and farmed environments as they are guided around our beautiful fields, hedgerows and woodland walks. As they learn to identify some of Ireland’s common wildflowers and insects there will be plenty of hands-on opportunities and we’ll get up close to some of the weirdest ones! Taking a closer look at the unseen world around us, we’ll find out just how important these tiny creatures are in the food web… including our own dinner plates. With additional activities in our farm museums students will gain a clear understanding of how changes in the way we live have made a big impact on the natural world…and what they can do to help restore the balance. Your visit will include;

  • An introduction to the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan and how you can get involved at school and at home
  • A guided woodland walk with our qualified instructor
  • A visit to our dragonfly ponds with a chance to examine developing larvae and a wealth of other underwater creatures
  • Quiz time and time to explore the past in our three Farm Museums
  • Supervised fun and games in our two amazing mazes!

With relevance to the science, geography and history curriculum and the Green Schools programme, talks can be tailored to fit in with your special interests or classroom activities, with an option for follow-up sessions at your school. Let us know what you need… we’d love to talk to you!

We believe in giving a high quality tour and therefore only host 50 students per day in two groups of 25 people. Tours last maximum two hours and cost €12.00 per secondary school student. We can cater all our tours to your specific requirements, we’d be happy to chat with you anytime.
