Hello, does anyone know of any plans for the introduction of ebooks into the education system, as an alternative to pupils having to carry bagfuls of heavy books. Surely with the iPad and other readers it should be possible to download books onto these devices and for pupils to use these instead?

St. Colmans secondary school for boys in Claremorris, Co. Mayo are introducing ipads for first year students this september . Its voluntary - either ipads or school books. Total cost - ipad and ebooks is €787 which is to cover books until Junior cert. includes exam papers. This is costing approx. €360.00 more than buying the actual books.
