    Reviewing Scripts

Every student is given the opportunity to view their examinations scripts. In order to avail of this opportunity they have to fill out a form which is available at their school and which must be returned to the school by Tuesday 21st August.

While the last thing many students may wish to do is to view their scripts, there are a number of reasons to encourage them to avail of the opportunity such as:

    • providing them with important feedback should they decide to repeat their Leaving certificate
    • helping them to decide whether it is worth applying for a subject re-check.
    • Giving them an insight for future exams as to how examiners mark and how to avoid ‘giving away points’.

When viewing their transcript a student may be accompanied by one other person at any one time. Candidates, or those accompanying them, may not interfere with or copy examination material. Writing instruments, mobile phones or cameras are not permitted in the viewing centre.

It is important to note that there is a very tight timeframe for the submission of a formal appeal of leaving certificate results. The forms have to be returned to the Examinations Commission by Wed 5th Sept so the application really needs to be with the school by Monday 3rd September. Details of the appeals process are available in the Information booklet provided by the Examinations Commission. There is a fee for each subject to be appealed and an application form to be completed – details of which are available on the Examination Commission website, www.examinations.ie
