Free Family Fun National Trails Day Sun 2nd Ocober

text re imageNational Trails Day will take place this Sunday 2nd October. In its fourth year, this national event is bigger than ever before and so there are events to suit everyone. All events are free and the aim of National Trails Day is to encourage people to take some time to appreciate the natural beauty and amenities on their doorstep. Outdoor trails are for everyone to enjoy and on this Sunday everyone from kayakers to canoeists, families to friends are encouraged to take part.

Hell Fire Club – Children’s Treasure Hunt taking place in the woodland surrounding the notorious Hell Fire Club, Dublin. (Starts at 1.30pm)
Family Group Orienteering- Cratloe Woods, Co Clare – Different levels of orienteering depending on family size and age (Starts 11am
Donkey Sanctuary Trail-Liscarroll, Co Cork- the trail takes in the famous residents of the Donkey Sanctuary-fun for all ages (Starts 2pm)
Intro to Trails- HSE and Coillte run these workshops which takes place at a number of locations across the country and is ideal for families who want to learn the best way of incorporating free family trails into their lifestyle.

There are literally over 225 trails taking place in the Republic alone and by logging onto www.nationaltrailsday.ie you can find the one that suits you and your family.
