Female physical
bullying is on the rise in schools in Ireland, according to a new report.
Research by anti-bullying expert Dr Mona O'Moore from Trinity College, Dublin, found that one in five girls in primary schools have been attacked, reports the Irish Independent.
The study discovered that this figure falls to one in seven for
secondary schools and Ms O'Moore explained that the culture for increasing levels of violence in educational establishments is not just restricted to Ireland.
One girl is quoted as saying: "When I was alone outside the library two girls pulled my hair and hit me in the face."
Another told of how she is kicked by a girl who insults her about her teeth.
Sheila Wayman, writing for the Irish Times earlier this month, called for separated parents to come together to spend Christmas with their children.
She explained that parents need to do their best to make the festive period a happy one for their youngsters.
